The girls are getting bigger and slowing down... a lot more laying around and chewing cud. Starting next weekend we will begin our preparation for kidding. The girls will get their feet trimmed once again. They will receive CDT vaccinations and BoSe injections, as we are in a very low selenium area. The darker LaMancha girls will be getting copper boluses. The barn will be cleaned out and pens will be set up for the new mommas to bond with their little ones. We are looking forward to lots of new babies at our place. It's one of the best times of the year!
In the mean time click on the tabs and take a look at our 2011 Goat babies from last year. Enjoy!
Happy New Year!
We are off to a very busy new year here at RR. I hope that I can keep you posted as to happenings here at the place.
We have decided to sell our Dexters in order to focus on building our herd of purebred, registered Murray Grey cattle. We enjoyed our time with the Dexters and think they are wonderful, little cattle.
We simpy don't have enough pasture land at this time to have two herds. If the opportunity does arrive when we are able to increase our pasture lands, we would love to have the Dexters once again.
All the Dexters went to good homes where they will be loved and cared for by great folks and neighbors. We will miss them.
Russell Ranch is located in beautiful NE Oklahoma, just a few miles from the Illinois river in Green Country. There are lovely rolling hills, lots of wonderful lakes and rivers, and forests full of wildlife.
