Patticake cleaning her new baby
And it's a heifer! Frazier Creek Patticake's little girl was born October 29th in the middle of a lovely warm fall afternoon.
Her sire is Frazier Creek Garrett from Frazier Creek Ranch in Rattan, OK
Patticake had a normal and uneventful labor - thank goodness! and is very proud of her new daughter. :) Both momma and baby are doing well. :)
We hope to have many more Murray Grey babies on the ground in the next year.
FYI - We are in search of any interested young people that are heavily involved in 4H or FFA that are looking for quality show calves. Please contact us if you may be looking for a unique and easy to handle show calf that present well in the show ring. To learn more about the Murray Grey breed, please look over our MG page. Murray Grey cattle are a great breed. :)
Tatiana was standing up on her own this morning when I went down to feed her!!! She even walked a few steps by herself!!! She still looks a little ragged, but continues to eat, drink, poop and pee well. Her eyes are bright and she loves company. I am leaving her in a lot by herself (which she doesn’t like) because I don’t want the other cows knocking her down. We go down several times a day to visit her.
Just to update... we had been standing her up with the tractor using hip lifts for a week. She had gotten so sore and bruised from the lifts that she was fighting them and ripped the hide off her hips. We decided to give her a few days off the lift to let her heal, but we placed her feed and hay in different places to
where she would have to move to get to it. Every time we went to check, she was in a different place, so we knew that she was still moving around... no bloating, etc.
It's so funny now... it's almost like she's had enough of us. She sees one of us coming and up she stands and turns her back to us. She wants nothing to do with us anymore. LOL I think she's afraid we'll give her another shot or poultice. It's good to see her getting better. :)
