Tatiana and Remington, Born 3/13
You may remember about a year ago when I wrote about Tatiana losing her bull calf. We purchased Tatiana already bred. However, Tatiana had been bred too young and was bred to a bull that throws larger calves... not a good combination.
We had to rush Tatiana to the vet and they had to pull the calf. He was dead when we got him out.
Tatiana had a lot of trauma from the hard birth and she was not able to stand for some time. We used hip locks on her and hoisted her up with a tractor 3 times a day for 3 weeks. She finally stood on her own!!
Wednesday, March 13th, Tatiana gave birth to a healthy bull calf completely unassisted! We are so happy both momma and baby are doing well.
Kidding season is almost over. Heart gave birth early this morning, 2 weeks early, to 2 bucklings that almost died of hypothermia. We were able to rescue them and get them warmed up enough to take some colostrum. They finally nursed late this afternoon are starting to stand up and move around. Nice looking little guys. The one is marked and looks almost exactly like his daddy Gauge. So very glad they made it. For a couple of hours we weren't sure.
Spring break this week.Yeah!!! Hope to get the garden and herb beds ready to plant. The grass is starting to green up and the animals are all shedding. We've noticed that many of the trees are beginning to bud out as well. The Purple Martin houses went up last weekend as we thought we noticed a few scouts checking us out! Soon it will be time to mow again.... :) Looking forward to long, warm days filled with lots of sun!
