Michael “Mike” Dale Russell, 68, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017. He was born on August 4, 1948 in Lampasas, Texas to his parents: Henry Dale Russell and Lila Mae Johnson-Russell.
Horses were Mike’s life, he thoroughly enjoyed showing and training his animals. Mike was seldom seen without one of his good cow dogs alongside him while out checking his cattle. He was a welder and backhoe operator the majority of his adult life. Mike was known to be a jack of all trades as he never found anything that he couldn’t do. He was a very creative and passionate person… always on the go and helping everyone he ever met…. And he never met a stranger Mike and Vicki raised registered Murray Grey cattle the last several years, while Mike managed the Delaware Rural Water District #11, and volunteered as a firefighter in the community of Leach, OK. Mike is preceded in death by his mother Lila Mae, and his son, Michael Weldon Russell. Mike is survived by his wife of 15 years, Vicki Russell of Rose, OK; Son and daughter-in-law, Zach and Amber Dicken of Lubbock, Texas; his daughter, Rebecca Russell of Arizona; Father, Dale Russell of Texas; brothers Gene, Kenneth, David, and Randy, along with numerous family and friends of which there are too many to list. Mike’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 04, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Leach School Gymnasium, 55979 S. 530 Rd, Rose, OK 74364. Mike will be memorialized with full Firefighter honors reserved for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Arrangements are entrusted in the care and direction of Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK 74346, with Shaunda J. Lawson, 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
